Another well-kept Northeast secret is the upscale Columbia Park neighborhood, tucked away from industrial surroundings, between the city of Columbia Heights and Columbia Park and Golf Course. The northernmost part is made up of a narrow strip of streets extending from Main Street to Central Avenue. Columbia Boulevard, which runs north of the golf course looks very much like the south Minneapolis parkways, with the same type of housing-stucco and brick Tudors and two-story colonials. The curvy Architect Avenue, off Columbia Boulevard, west of Van Buren, is a particularly picturesque street, with houses designed by prominent Twin Cities architects over the course of the 1930s, '40s and '50s. Homes here are elaborate and well kept, with meticulous landscaping and mature trees that contribute to the park-like atmosphere.
