2.  Hopkins Enjoys Convenient Metro Access

A location 10 miles southwest of Minneapolis makes commuting to the city for work or play a piece of cake.  And trendy uptown is only 5 miles east!  So take in a Twins game at Target Field or listen to the Minnesota Pops at the Lake Harriet Bandshell and you are only 20 minutes away! There is always some event or happening year round in Hopkins. In summer there is Music in the Park and the Farmers Market that is ongoing through the fall. The annual Raspberry Festival in July began in 1935 and has become a Twin Cities tradition! The Center for the Arts – located in downtown, is a focal point for the arts, culture and entertainment.  Check out the calendar of theater, concerts, art exhibitions, classes and other events available.

The Depot – a renovated train station that now serves as a coffee house and trailhead for area bike trails.  This unique program has a Board of Directors consisting of high school students.  This youth project provides an opportunity for younger citizens to get involved as they create their own space to relax, learn and have some fun. Profits go back to the community to provide programs for teens.

Hopkins Activity Center – a community facility featuring a gym, kitchen and meeting rooms.  This is the home of the Senior Citizen Program.  It serves as an area for socializing, recreation, education, fitness and volunteer activities.

6. Parks and Recreation

The Hopkins Public Works Department maintains 19 parks and nature areas in the community. In warm weather months parks offer athletic fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, areas for skateboarding, swimming, tennis, archery, canoeing, fishing and more for your family to enjoy.  When the weather turns cold there is ice skating, sledding and cross country trails.  The area also offers some great options for regional trails for biking, hiking, and enjoying nature.

The Hopkins School District includes 5 elementary schools, 2 junior high schools, and one high school.  Also available are 2 charter schools, The International Spanish Language Academy and Main Street School for Performing Arts.  There are also 5 private school options in the area.
